Welcome former SGS Pupils

Do you want an informal Alumni network where we can share memories of our school days?

A place where you can also get back in touch with class-mates?

We have one for the pre-1968 Grammar School.

  • It's an informal network, no committees, no subscription, free access on the website to all the archive material we have collected from former pupils
  • We have :
    • lists of Old Boys (it was a boys school)
    • reminiscences of school life, some very amusing
    • school magazines
    • school photographs
    • over 600 informal photographs
    • newspaper articles
    • programmes from school plays and other memorabilia
  • Spring & Autumn Newsletters
  • Occasional re-unions

It's all searchable so you can find a person or an event - but only if you are a former pupil and registered with us.

There is nothing like this for the post-1968 Steyning Grammar School ...

,,, even though 189 pupils for whom we already have contact details attended both the old Grammar School and the new Comprehensive.

In the last ten years or so there has been an explosion of videos on YouTube which give a very good impression of school life since about 2010. But there is very little between 1968 and 2010 (actually I can't find anything).

Our school does have an Alumni programme, but it does not have any platform to share archive material.

If you are interested in participating in such a network, then please let me know, either:

If we do establish a network, please note that I will never share your details outside the network, and only inside it if you are happy for other former pupils to see your details.

Who am I?

From 1959 to 1966 I was a pupil at the Grammar School. I now run the pre-1968 Grammar School Old Boys network (it was a boys school), and quite often receive requests from former pupils of the post-1968 school to join our network. As current members of the network have only given consent for their details to be shared with other pre-1968 Grammar School Old Boys, regrettabgly we cannot allow new members from outside that group to join.

So is it time for a new post-1968 Alumni network?

Tony Abrahams
